The 92nd Street Y organization was established on March 22, 1874. Its complete organization name is 92nd Street Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association. You might ask, “Is this organization a part of YMCA?” no, it is not part of the YMCA. Their center is now located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York.
Its main facility was built in 1930, and in 1967 an Annex was built at the 91st Street. It served the people for over a century already. It has given almost $1 million of scholarships to the people it served. They do not choose what kind of people to serve, they provide help from newborn to elderly adult. The programs they offer are the following:
- Community Outreach
- Electronic Distribution of Programs and Content Development
- Jewish Life and Culture
- Lifelong Learning
- Performing and Literary Arts
- Physical Fitness and Wellness
- Programs for Children and Families
If you want to connect to people around the world, consider joining the 92nd Street Y. Make a change. The world needs each one of us, but we cannot make a change if it will not start from us.
